Thai Union Frozen Products Veteran
Takes Helm at Chicken of the Sea International
SAN DIEGO – Nov. 6, 2007 – Shue
Wing Chan, former executive director and chief
financial officer of Thai Union Frozen Products
PCL — the leading producer and exporter of frozen and canned seafood in Thailand — is
bringing his global expertise to Chicken of the Sea International as its newest president and
CEO.
Thai Union Frozen Products is the parent company of Thai Union International,
of which Chicken of the Sea is a subsidiary.
“Having worked in the seafood industry in numerous sales, marketing
and financial positions for more than 13 years, Shue Wing brings unparalleled
industry expertise that can be applied to the continued growth of
the Chicken of the Sea brand,” said Thiraphong Chansiri, president
of Thai Union Frozen Products. “Chicken of the Sea has a long
history of innovation and providing products that meet consumers’ ever-increasing
demand for quality, healthy and convenient seafood, and Shue Wing
will continue this tradition.”
Chan said Chicken of the Sea has a strong foundation on which to build.
“The strength and quality of the Chicken of the Sea brand and
its sales, marketing and management teams, coupled with the infrastructure
of Thai Union, poise our company for continued growth, and I look
forward to building upon these factors,” said Chan.
Chan replaces John Signorino, who announced his resignation Oct. 31,
citing intentions to travel and spend time with family. Signorino
stated he is pleased to transition the business to Chan, with whom
he has worked with over the last three years.
“Shue Wing’s integrity and years of experience in the
seafood business qualify him for this position,” said Signorino.
“Under Signorino’s leadership, the Chicken of the Sea
brand had a concentrated effort to increase sales, introduce new products,
build the brand and educate consumers about the health benefits of
Chicken of the Sea products. For this and his other efforts, we thank
him,” said Chansiri.
In his role as executive director and chief financial officer at Thai
Union Frozen Products, Chan managed overall business development and
financial operations, including day-to-day matters related to financial
administration and business performance. He was responsible for managing
the development and implementation of business plans and financial
strategies for the expansion of Thai Union Frozen Products’ business. In
addition, Chan communicated with shareholders, fund managers and security
analysts on the company’s strategy, policy and performance.
Chan obtained his bachelor’s degree in finance from Oregon State
University (1994) and his master’s degree in business administration
from Bangkok University (1998).
A seafood category leader, Chicken of the Sea provides a variety of
